  • sick & shopping

I'm hoping this week is better than last week.  It's early in this cold weather season and our family has already been slammed with sickness.  Hopefully this will be it for us.  Cameron had a nasty cold for 2 weeks and we had to even cancel meeting up with xanga friend Abby (Abs7) while she was in town .  Booooo!  As soon as Cam was feeling a little better my hubby got sick.  He worked from home most of last week, but the poor guy still isn't back to his normal self.  And me - well I didn't get what they had but I woke up last Friday with horrible ear pain.  Come to find out I had an ear infection that got into my lymph node and was causing all kinds of pain in my ear, head, jaw, etc.  Fortunately I was able to get in to the doctor and start antibiotics quickly so I'm feeling much better.

On a brighter note, this past weekend we were able to get a TON of Christmas shopping done.  We went to the mall with a stack of coupons and we were able to snag some pretty good stuff at excellent prices.  We have to shop early this year because we are celebrating Christmas with my family when we go to Ohio at Thanksgiving time.  It's also nice to get the bulk of shopping done before massive amounts of people start flooding all of the stores.

Other than that, nothing too exciting is going on.  Hope you all have a splendid Tuesday!

  • How is it November Already?!?!

What the heck!! How is it November already?!

We had a great weekend.  Friday we spent trick or treating with some friends.  The kids knew exactly what to do by about the 3rd house.  "tick o teat"  "fank ew".  It was adorable . We thought Cam's costume was a horse, but it turns out it was a giraffe (who cares - she was cute, and the costume was like 2 bucks at a yard sale).

Saturday- I drove 2 1/2 hours each way up to Scranton, PA to attend the bridal shower of one of my dearest friends.  Casey, one of my other best friends is the maid of honor so she flew in from Cincinnati to be there too.  It was soooo nice to see them.  Lindsay's wedding is in a few weeks down in Oklahoma, so I'm really looking forward to that (I'm in that wedding too ).  Lindsay's mom passed away a few years back from breast cancer and she doesn't have alot of family so I feel like as one of my closest friends this was something really important to be a part of.    When I got home from the shower, we took Cam out trick or treating in our little town.  It ended up raining when we were far from our house.  We got SOAKED - had to pretty much run home.  We had fun though .

Sunday was a pretty low key day - we had a skip church because Cameron STILL has a cold.  Poor thing - we're on day 8 of this now.

Monday - Dan took the day off of work to spend with us so we decided after Cameron's doctors appt. that we would head to the Philadelphia Zoo.  Her doc. appt went well.  She was such a brave girl for her shots and they had to draw blood for a lead screening, she barely even cried!!  The zoo was fun.  It was a bit chilly, but it was nice to pretty much have the place to ourselves.  What a change from the summer time when we went and you had to wait in line to see the animals.  We had a blast.  It was a great family day!

Cameron was facinated by the tigers.

And I was facinated by this guy

Other than that-nothing else is really new.  We had to cancel outings today and tomorrow because of the munchkin not feeling well, so hopefully I can get alot accomplished with some of this extra time I have on my hands.

Hope you all have a great Tuesday.  GO VOTE!!!

  • Just a fun little questionaire

I saw this on Marla's blog -thought it was interesting so here I go:

    1. What is your favorite thing to snack on while you’re blogging?
It's usually morning when I blog - so I tend to be eating breakfast, usually cereal

    2. What is one thing you wouldn’t want to live without?
Other than the obvious answers I'd have to say chapstick.  I'm obsessed!

    3. Beach, Mountains, or Farm? Where would you live if you had a choice?
Oh that's an easy one for me - BEACH BEACH BEACH!!!  I love, the sun, sand and water.

    4. What’s your least favorite chore/household duty?
All of them!!   my absolute least favorite chore is cleaning the kitchen, probably because it's the most frequently dirty room so it requires constant attention.  Ugh.

    5. Who do people say you remind them of?
I've had lots of people say I remind them of my mom, which is totally a compliment because I think my mom is the most amazing woman ever!

    6. Prefer parties and socializing or staying home with the fam?
ooh that's a hard one because I really like both!  but if I HAD to choose, I'd say staying home with the fam.

    7. What’s your all time favorite movie?
I love the original Parent Trap movie with Hayley Mills.  It's been my favorite since I was a kid.

    8. Do you sleep in your make-up or remove it like a good little girl every night?
Does a quick splash of water count as removing it

    9. Do you have a hidden talent or a deep desire to learn something that you’ve never had a chance to learn? What is it?
YES!  I've always wanted to learn how to make a quilt (started my first one yesterday), and take a cake decorating class (hope to do in the near future).

    10. What’s one strange thing you’re really good at?
taking pictures of everything - I don't usually leave my house without a camera

    11. What first attracted you to your spouse?
    His stellar looks

    12. What is something you love to smell?
I love the smell of fresh baking bread, and I also like the smell of citronella candles (you know-the cheap mosquito candles you put out in the summer)

    13. Tell something about you that you know irritates people.
I am almost always late to everything.  I have good intentions but I have trouble getting out the door (even before I had a kid)

    14. When you have extra money, what’s the first thing you think to do with it?
Go do something fun.  I'm all about fun

    15. Are you a silent laugher or a loud laugher? What makes you laugh the hardest?
I'm not silent but not loud, I'm a medium laugher.  I laugh really hard when other people are cracking up, especially my brothers.  I can think of many a times when I nearly peed my pants from laughing so hard.

    16. Where is your favorite place to shop?
Yard sales!!  I love the thrill of a deal.  Not so much for clothes for me though - for that I like Gap Outlet and Kohls.

    17. What’s one thing you’d do more often if you had more time?
learning to play the guitar.  I took lessons a couple of years ago and loved it - stopped doing it once I had Cam

    18. Are you a big spender or frugal?
FRUGAL!!  I am definitely NOT a big spender!

    19. Who is your favorite character of all time?
I'd say the Boxcar Children.......remember those books?!  This one was tough for me

    20. Would you want to be famous?
Uh - that's an emphatic NO!!

-Dang!  What's up with all the traffic I'm getting on here from Great Britian, Saudi Arabia, and the Russian Federation?  I am seriously contemplating putting a friend lock on here.

-We've had a pretty hectic week around here, and it doesn't seem as if it's going to let up until......oh about April.  I enjoy being busy, just not this busy.

-I had fun planning my t-shirt quilt project the other day.  I can't wait to get started.   I had to laugh though when I was sorting through the bin of tshirts and it turns out I actually have WAY more than Dan.  I'm definitely going to make one at some point for me too.

-Dan and I started working on our wills recently.  I hate thinking about that kind of stuff but it's necessary.  We know first hand how essential a will is, after all that's happened with Dan's family.  So if you don't have one, DO IT!!!!!  We actually are just using legal software for now and having it notarized, until we have the cashola to have an attorney do it.  We basically just wanted it on paper who was to get our kiddo and the funds to take care of her.

-My little nephew's first birthday party is this weekend at Gymboree.  It should be fun for the kids, Cameron's never been to a place like that before.  On our way home we hope to stop by our friends house and catch the tail end of their Fall party they are having.  They live on a farm so it's a perfect setting with the animals, hayrides, etc.  Sunday after church we may head over to Sesame Place again if it's nice out.  Friends of ours gave us free tickets to use before the end of the season.  It's all set up for Halloween now, so kids come dressed up and can trick or treat with the characters of Sesame Street.  She'll love it!

-I hear my little peanut waking up.  I'm so glad she slept in - we have another busy afternoon ahead of us!

-Enough randomness - gotta run!  Have a great day!
